I graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Essex University having worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant alongside my degree for adults and children with neurological conditions both in care homes and their home environments.
Before opening The Herts and Essex Therapy Clinic I worked both in private practice and the NHS as a musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapist, gaining a broad experience in sports and musculoskeletal injury treatment and prevention of all age groups as well as orthopaedic and post-operative rehabilitation.
Through my years of experience and being keen to maintain health and fitness I have gained a strong interest in Sports Injuries, Spinal Dysfunction and tendinopathies. More recently I have chosen to specialise in Womens Health and TMJ dysfunction due to personal experiences. My treatment specialities include IMS Needling and Shockwave Therapy.
Since qualifying I have undertaken a variety of post graduate training; including Spinal Manipulation, Kinesio and Traditional Taping, Acupuncture, Shockwave Therapy and Sports Massage.
I have been privileged to work and learn alongside talented and renowned physiotherapists within the sporting industry. Following my time in The NHS I went on to work at The Varney Practice established by Mike Varney who was Tottenham Hotspurs Physio for many years, I was managed by his amazingly talented son Steve Varney who previously worked within formula 1 and gave me the honour of having Rob Madden (Anthony Joshua’s Physio) as my mentor, these guys taught me everything I know and I will be eternally grateful for everything I learnt from them and their wealth of knowledge and experience.

I then specialised in paediatrics working for several years in children’s centres, specialist centres for children with physical disabilities in both mainstream and special schools and in the community. Whilst working for the NHS I also worked in private practice for Spire healthcare, independently treating children and adults with neurological conditions and also working with older people in care homes and their home environment
Through my years of experience I have gained a strong interest in all aspects of Paediatrics but especially in Cerebral palsy and developmental delay. A large proportion of children and adults that I treat are case managed following litigation for problems around the time of birth or acquired brain injury.
I also have a special interest in the treatment of adults with cerebral palsy, upper limb rehabilitation in Stroke patients, elderly rehabilitation and Guillan Barre syndrome.
Since qualifying I have undertaken a variety of post graduate training: including Bobath treatment technique, saeboflex, conductive education, GMFM & Outcome measures, Hydrotherapy etc.

My interest in physiotherapy began after finishing a Pilates course and began receiving physiotherapy referrals for all kinds of core/joint instabilities. I greatly enjoyed helping people by working with them to make the corrections they needed to improve their weaknesses/pain. Which, is what led me wanting to go back to university so I would be equipped to do even more for people than just teach exercises…and I haven’t look back since!

I graduated from Staffordshire University having studied BSc (hons) Sports Therapy. Alongside my 3-year degree, I had the opportunity to gain a vast amount of invaluable experience within professional and semi-professional football and clinical-based settings (including here at The Herts and Essex Therapy Clinic). I am also currently studying for a second degree, this time in Physiotherapy at the University of Essex.
Having the title of a ‘Sports Therapist’ can sometimes confuse many people and it doesn’t always mean that we can only treat ‘sports injuries’. Sports Therapists’ do specialise in ‘sports injuries’, however we aim to treat all varieties of musculoskeletal aches and pains not necessarily gained through playing sport.
Some of the conditions I can help you with include neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfers elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, sciatica, hip and groin pain, knee injuries, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, tendinopathies, ligament sprains and muscular strains.
The treatment you may receive will differ depending on your injury, however the services I can provide you are Sports/Soft Tissue Massage, Spinal and Joint Mobilisations, Medical Acupuncture (Dry Needling), Interferential Therapy, Therapeutic Ultrasound, Shockwave Therapy, Kinesiology Taping and Rehabilitation/Exercise Prescription.
